Religious Affairs

The Department of Religious Affairs is responsible for the administration of religious life within the Jewish community. It is also responsible for administering membership data.

The Department of Religious Affairs offers the following services:

  • Membership acquisition
  • Certificates for membership and for religious purposes
  • Birth registration and information about brit milah (circumcision)
  • Registration for external religious classes – as of age 7
  • Download registration form here
  • Bat mitzvah registration – as of age 11 – one year prior to bat mitzvah if no knowledge of Hebrew

  • Bar mitzvah registration – as of age 12 – one year prior to bar mitzvah if no knowledge of Hebrew

  • Chuppah (marriage) registration
  • Download registration form here

  • Burial advice
  • Gravestone authorisation
  • Visitor services coordination, including tours of synagogues and cemeteries
  • Tour registration for Weissensee Cemetery – directly via email
  • Certification
  • Depository for last wills and testaments
  • Schedules for all synagogues of the Jewish community, including holidays / shabbatots, etc.
  • Tickets for synagogue seats for the High Holy Days
