Isaac Sheffer

Cantor Isaac Sheffer, born in 1951 in Israel, served in several synagogues in New York before coming to serve the Berlin community in 1995. As cantor at the Pestalozzistraße Synagogue and successor to Chief Cantor Estrongo Nachama of blessed memory, he carries on the tradition of 19th century German synagogal music.

Isaac Sheffer has been cantor of the Pestalozzistraße Synagogue in Berlin-Charlottenburg since 2001. He began his musical career as a tenor in the ensemble of the New Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv and as a soloist at several opera festivals (including with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and Claudio Abbado), before serving in the Hebrew Tabernacle Synagogue and Temple Beth Shalom in New York.
